Today we want to highlight our client Elvis. Usually on the other side of the camera Elvis Harrigan is the proud owner of the digital imagery studio “Picture this Studio.” Elvis, who started his career as a graphic designer, always dreamed of having his own photography studio. For years he worked hard to build the right network and gain the skills necessary to make his dream a reality,  and in 2016 he opened his first studio and hit the ground running, quickly becoming one of the most popular photographers on the island.
“ Working for other people has never been my thing. I’ve always wanted to be my own boss and to work in an environment that stimulated me to be more creative. Opening my own studio allowed me to have the creative freedom that I needed. It served as a home base for my clients and a place where I could work outside of home.”

Unfortunately in September 2017, Elvis lost his home base to the wrath of Hurricane Irma. Days before Irma made land-fall he took as much of his equipment as possible out of the studio, hoping that he would be able to resume business right after the storm, but this was not the case.  “ It was very depressing. My whole studio was destroyed along with most of the equipment that I left there. I thought that I would have to go back to working for someone else. However after looking around for a new space I eventually found one and started working with the equipment that I salvaged from my old studio.” It wasn’t easy in the beginning, there weren’t many photography jobs right after the storm but eventually things started to get better and the demand slowly started to increase.

As business started to improve, Elvis was in urgent need of furniture and equipment for his new studio. That’s when he found his way to Qredits. “ I knew that I needed financial help in order to get the things that I needed, so when I heard about Qredits I decided to approach them to see what was possible. I was never a fan of loans before but they definitely made me feel more at ease about it.” To my surprise the entire process was quick and easy, which is not always the case on the island. The loan officers were friendly and clear from the very beginning., and for the things I didn’t understand they were there to provide the answers I needed. Since getting the loan, Picture This Studios has been doing well. Elvis was able to get the equipment that he needed and business has been steadily improving.  He is now hopeful for the future and is busy working on new strategies to take his company to another level. He encourages other young entrepreneurs to take the steps necessary in order to fulfill their dreams and to not give up even when things are bad.
